As most of you know I went down to Melbourne in January to attend an amazing photographers workshop called 'Art and the Heart' organised by two of the best photographers and people you could ever be lucky enough to meet Dan O'Day and Samm Blake. I also got to meet a wonderful group of fellow photographers and our likeminded connections was something I will cherish forever.
So back to my visitor 'Tracy Lee' was my roomie for the 4 days and from the time we met we became instant friends. Tracy hails from Canberra and I was so lucky that she and her bloke drove up to Sydney a couple of weeks ago, for a quick visit of family and little old me.
Tracy and I grabbed our cameras, raced to the beach and while giggling endlessly snapped each other in some of the pretty afternoon light. Just wanted to share some now with you.

Its how we play.
This week I am writing my post feeling ever more excited about our upcoming adventures and also a little sad at what and who we are leaving behind for the next 2 years. Not long to go only 4 weeks so will have to pack up my pc too and send it over and cross my fingers it arrives safely, or there will be tears.
We know another local family who moved to Switzerland last year and plan to stay there for 5 years. They don't speak english over there only 2 main types of german, but I hear they are all doing great and enjoying life over there. The mum inspired me with a journal she made with her girls filled with photos and pictures and short stories about how life is now in their little snowy village, and so I am currently making one for my kids to take when we leave. I've been down to the school, beach, favourite parks and things in general we like to do, so Miss S and Mstr J can show their new classmates what lifes like in Australia. I also have been doing a couple of shoots with the kids friends so they can stick them all around in our new home and feel like their aussie friends are still with them in some way and not forgotten. So my post today is a selection from a litle shoot I did last week with Miss S and her dear friend Miss A they have been friends a couple of years now and so Miss S is going to miss her a lot, thank goodness for email and skype i'm sure they are going to save the day for us.
Enjoy the week

The 'B Sides'
Now the kids are back at school i've got a bit more time for my blog, so I want to share a few more of my images from my recent project 'my first memory'. These are the ones that didn't make the final cut, not because I thought they were unworthy, I just chose differently in December. Love to hear what you think of them, they are still along the same idea of childhood smells and memories.
Enjoy xo

Its a new year and i've changed...
Firstly I'd like to mention some of the things that I am already grateful for this year, as expressed in my last post. I haven't had time to photograph them all so just writing them into todays post.
1. Love from my kids, its always so grounding and given freely.
2. The ocean always inspiring and calming
3. My husband for my amazing new laundry(old one rated in top 50 worst ever)
4. Art and the Heart friends for sharing an amazing few days in Melbourne, in my heart always.
Will try to do some photos next post as I stop and be grateful for so much.
So January has been such a great start to 2012 so many positives happening i've been on such a 'high' and is only getting better with our Euro adventure getting closer every day.
A couple of weeks ago I flew on my own down to Melbourne to participate in a photographers workshop 'Art and the Heart' which was in the very cool suburb 'Fitzroy'. This 3 day workshop can only be described by me as 'AMAZING' and I have gained so much from it not just in theory but in growing myself as a photographer and the way I see the world 'my way' and also a wonderful group of peeps and the awe inspiring hosts Dan O'Day and Samm Blake who made the whole workshop come together and totally 'rocked' it was so much fun and I think I will be on a high for many months to come. Something else we all did for the workshop was a brief sent to us prior to the w'shop the subject : My First Memory was certainly challenging and I based mine on smells or scents that bring back childhood memories to me. I submitted 12 shots and when we arrived at the gallery our projects were hanging on the walls, so exciting to see mine and others in a gallery here are the ones I sent in featuring cut grass, beach, bush and cinema.
Well the end of the summer holidays is here and wow it really flew, had so many good times with the kids but just quietly I was smiling all day Monday first day back at school aaah now I can clean up the house and finish packing yay.
Thanks for listening and love to hear any stories of your holidays so feel free to leave a comment.

Welcome to 2012...
'Yes' the new year has begun and I for one am super excited that this is going to be one of my most exciting yet!
I haven't made any grand resolutions, I quit smoking years ago, lucky to drink half a bottle of wine in a week and my wardrobe is showing no sign of too much to wear. So I've just decided this will be my year to start being better organised, and to document life more as it happens, so I bought myself a journal and I intend to write and photograph my way through 2012 capturing those little precious occurrances that happen with our families and friends that we usually forget about later and wish i hadn't.
Did you make any special resolutions this year? Would love to hear them, please make a comment and let me know i'm easily inspired.
I have also decided I will start my own 'year of gratefullness' and will be writing and photographing this daily, this idea was created back in 2008 by 'Hailey' http://365grateful.com/homepage.htm its an amazing story and so inspiring and worthwhile. I can't wait to start.
I hope this will be a wonderful year for you, the start of new beginnings....

A Jolly Holiday to you!
Christmas is almost upon us and the silly season is definately in full swing. We've had concerts, graduations, birthday parties, xmas parties, fireworks and santa at the beach, on a boat, at the shops, at preschool and live on stage he sure does get around he must be exhausted. I'm really looking forward to going away for a few days next week to Blueys Beach up north I think dinner at the club every night sounds wonderful as long as i'm not cooking fine by me.
I hope you are all having some lovely time catching up with family, and friends during this time and hope you and yours get to put your feet up a bit after the big day. If you are going away may you have a safe journey and lots of lazy sunny days till we meet again in the new year.
Merry Christmas everybody
love B xo
